Atmosphere

                           Atmosphere

The atmosphere is the blanket of gases which surrounds the Earth. The atmosphere is held near the surface of the planet by Earth’s gravitational attraction. The atmosphere is made out of gases that are essential for photosynthesis and other life activities.

If we didn’t have the atmosphere life would be silent, all of the unprotected plants and animal life on the Earth’s surface would die. If you had a pressure suit and air you would live but you would get a massive sunburn on the exposed skin. The rivers, lakes, seas and oceans would boil. The lack of atmosphere would chill the Earth’s surface and the organisms that need air to breathe would die.

The layers of the atmosphere are:

Troposphere, Stratosphere, Mesosphere, Thermosphere, Lonosphere and the Exosphere. The atmosphere seals the planet and protects us from the vacuum of space. The atmosphere gives us weather like wind, rain and snow. The atmosphere also protects us from objects that are coming to Earth from outer space.

Overall I think that the atmosphere is like the Earth’s shield protecting us from the sun and the meteors. The atmosphere also gives us oxygen and protein and it allows us to stay alive.
